Data collection and preparation

We are back today for a short update to share with you guys the 5 steps we use to prepare for our data collection!!

So, here are the 5 steps:
1)      Data collection methods
·         The data was collected around Orchard. We have come to a conclusion to have a sample size of 100. This is to ensure that there is enough data being collected.
To ensure that our interviewers are clear with the questionnaire, we had gone through the survey questions with them.
We then randomly picked tourist as the respondents mostly Caucasian and went through the survey question with them so that they could clearly understand the questions. This is to avoid any ambiguity in responses as interviewers can re-phrase the questions to suit the understanding of the respondent.

2)      Check that questions are correct and clear
·         We check through the survey questions and make sure it is clear and easy to understand. This is to avoid any misunderstanding and ambiguity in responses.

3)      Enter the collected data into a database
·         The data collected was entered accurately into Microsoft Excel for further analysis by our group mate who is familiar with data entry and who can type accurately to avoid corrupted database.

4)      Validate the data
·         The data collected were checked though to ensure that there are no inconsistencies and is relevant. By checking the data collected, we can also make sure that all data is real and is free from fraud and biasness.

5)      Edit the data
·         Illegible and incomplete questionnaires would be filtered out at this stage.

Our team follow these 5 steps very closely as we collect, check, enter, validate and edit the data. We would say that these are very standard but useful steps. Do try them out next time if you guys need to do some data collection. (:
We hope it works for you just like how it works for us!
We will update again very soon, keep visiting this space ! (:

Love,
BizEngineers

  1. The process of collecting electronic data can be a complicated one in e-discovery or computer forensic investigation. The process of data collection begins, there is a need for experts to examine the type of data that is very crucial, where it is located, the amount needed and also whether active data or mirror image capture is needed..
